Love Cambodia

This organisation, established by kiwis Mark and Janice Sommerville, build wells, schools, and infrastructure to strengthen local communities in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. They have developed micro-enterprise programmes, teach language, support abandoned children and families in need and are held in high regard winning government awards for community building.

We particularly like to support their well drilling programme which provides safe water supply as up to a quarter of Cambodia’s population do not have access to a safe or reliable  water supply. They may be unreliable due to shallow wells, tainted by environmental pollution or by naturally occurring arsenic in the soil.

Safe wells transform the lives of Cambodian communities and reduce their day-to-day burden. Thomas Consultants has been sponsoring wells in Cambodia since 2011, and for the last five years have been partnered with Love Cambodia who have through the support of numerous parties have sunk 70 wells.

Vision West

Vision West is an amazing West Auckland based organisation making a difference in our city and other parts of New Zealand by providing community and emergency housing and many other social services.

Their Mission is Building Hope Together. Together with individuals, families, and communities. We are passionate about reducing poverty, addressing homelessness, supporting the elderly and infirm, and ensuring young people have hope for their future. This means we journey with people, supporting them with physical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs with the goal of achieving our vision of Transformed Lives, Healthy Communities.

Homelessness is a social need that has been felt by many. In the extreme, this has resulted in people living in cars, garages or sleeping rough.

We are very pleased to support Vision West and their work with the homeless and providing emergency and supported housing.

Thomas Consultants has worked on a number of emergency housing projects built by Vision West and also emergency housing projects built by Housing New Zealand (now Kāinga Ora) and managed by Vision West as social support partner.
