On Wednesday night, our Landscape Architecture team, Joseph McCready, Charlotte Grieve and Erin Phillips, were announced as finalists in the Te Nohonga Tuarua Seat Design Challenge Round Two.
The event is organised by Brick Bay, Britomart, Resene, and the NZILA . The first stage involved producing a concept seat design. Being finalists means that we can now take the design to the next stage, building and installing it in Britomart later on this year. After it has been displayed in Britomart it will be relocated to Brick Bay.
The design brief was to come up with a concept relative to climate resilience. Our teams design is titled Mataora, and it references the circle of life, a hinaki form, and a weaved net. It talks about the journey of life, through learning, discovery, change, and adaptation.
Keep your eyes peeled as we go into the build phase later in 2022!
