At Thomas Consultants Ltd, you will be joining a dynamic group of leaders recognised in the industry as experts in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Planning, Environmental Services and Design. We are now looking for an experienced Soil Contamination Specialist to lead the Soil Contamination Team. Your experience of managing soil contamination as well as a sound understanding of NES and relevant standards will see you thrive in this role.
Your specialist skills and knowledge will see you perform well in mentoring, overseeing and training staff within a small team and in developing this area of business. Lead soil contamination investigations and specialist peer review services to local councils and statutory authorities for resource consent applications. Your interpersonal skills will see you build relationships with external parties such as private clients, Auckland Council, Government Agencies, Watercare and others.
Your leadership and management skills will assist you in your key responsibilities:
- Investigate, analyse and prepare Soil Contamination Investigations and Reports
- Supervision of remediation for contaminated sites
- Lead on commercial and land development projects
- Carry out reviews and assessments of contamination projects
- Provide excellent customer service to clients
- Support the business development activities of the company
- Mentor, oversee and train staff
The Ideal Candidate
A relevant degree, current drivers license, solid professional experience in managing soil contamination investigations and remediation projects, a desire to be part of developing and shaping the team and a sound grasp of relevant legislation are requirements for this role.
Your experience working in a project management capacity, with contaminants and with health and safety standards will be built upon by the following skills:
- Experience in working with the NES, other legislation and guidelines
- SQEP or CEnvP accreditation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound negotiation skills and ability to influence
- Ability to manage and develop a team & work independently when required
