As the future of Auckland’s urban planning framework continues to develop, a new update has been released regarding Plan Change 78 (PC78). The Independent Hearings Panel has decided to delay the remaining PC78 Topics until more clarity is gained on whether the RMA Amendment Bill allows the Council to withdraw some or all of PC78. Here’s everything you need to know about the recent changes and how these may affect your current or future projects.
What Happens Next?
If the RMA Amendment Bill requires completion of the remaining topics, the Panel has outlined the following process that will be followed:
- A scope hearing will be held to determine whether the Light Rail Corridor should be included.
- All remaining topics will be heard in a single consolidated hearing.
- Avoid further expert conferencing or mediation to expedite the process.
What Remains Unchanged?
It is important to note that this delay does not impact the Metropolitan Centre Outstanding Matters hearing, and it will proceed as scheduled in June.
Who Is Impacted?
This delay could have implications for property owners, developers and other community stakeholders regarding development proposals.
