Position: Acting Team Leader/Principal Planner

About the role
We are looking for an Acting Team Leader/Principal Planner to head up our growing planning team based in the heart of West Auckland. This position presents an excellent opportunity to move your planning career forward and test the waters of team leadership, people and client management. The acting role involves
- Business-as-usual work around consents planning
- Project management of resource consent project from inception to consent delivery
- Mentoring and developing the growing planning team
Your technical planning skills and experience will see you excel in this role with the opportunity to influence outcomes on a variety of interesting projects.
The position will initially be Acting Team Leader/Principal Planner for 9 months maternity leave cover, and then move to a permanent Principal Planner role. However due to the growth we’re experiencing, for the right candidate, this may quickly lead on to leadership opportunities within the business.

Skills and experience
Your great people skills enable you to work successfully with diverse clients and collaboratively with colleagues. Building the reputation of the company in the wider marketplace through great service is important to you.
We are looking for an individual with at least 5 years’ experience (including a minimum of 2 years in the private sector) and who has managed high profile, complex projects with a good track record, and now wants to have a go at people management. Experience with hearings and Environment Court experience would also be beneficial.
A key attribute for this position will be an interest in leading, and developing a team, noting that the position will initially be as Acting Team Leader/Principal Planner and then providing direct support to Planning Team Leader as a Principal Planner, on their return. The right candidate will also have enthusiasm and drive to continue to grow the company’s reputation in the market.
