Thomas Consultants is a growing multi-disciplinary company that offers environmental, planning, engineering, surveying and related services on a range of projects across the Auckland region and beyond . We are looking for a forward thinking, experienced Intermediate or Senior Ecologist to join the Soils and Ecology Team in Henderson or Manukau. Our reputation with local and central government and private industry means you will have a variety of private and public projects to work on across a range of client areas.
About the role
Working alongside a small team of dedicated professionals, specialising in terrestrial and wetland ecology, the position presents an excellent opportunity to move your career forward by applying your technical skills and project management experience on a variety of interesting projects.
Your effective self-management attitude will see you excel as you take ownership of site assessments, planting/restoration plans and monitoring projects, while delivering great customer service and providing ecological advice, both internally and externally.

This role is based at either our Henderson or Manukau offices, with flexible working from home options, and is being offered as either a full-time, or permanent part-time position.

We are looking for an individual with a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, current driver’s license and at least 3 years’ experience in the industry.
You will be familiar with the application of ecological assessments and planting/restoration plans in a New Zealand context and will have excellent report writing and communication skills, and significant experience with native plant and weed identification. Experience, or interest, in wetland ecology and the resource consent process is also preferable.
